Police charge man over sexual assaults in Kelmscott

Sex Assault Squad detectives have charged a man in relation to two incidents in Kelmscott on Saturday, 3 February 2018.

Around 7.55pm a 16 year old girl was sitting under a shelter near the Kelmscott Train Station. A man approached her and allegedly produced a knife forcing the girl to walk with him across Streich Avenue. The girl was able to break free from the man and run to the train station. The man was seen running south on Streich Avenue.

The second incident occurred around 8.45pm at a home in Kelmscott. It will be further alleged the man sexually assaulted a woman in her 20’s.

In the early hours of this morning, Sunday 4 February 2018, Sex Assault Squad detectives executed a search warrant in Camillo.

A 47 year old man from the address has been arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • 2 x Deprivation of Liberty
  • 1 x Threats to Injure, Endanger or Harm any Person
  • 7 x Aggravated Sexual Penetration Without Consent
  • 1 x Aggravated Burglary

The man is due to appear in Armadale Magistrates Court today.
