Luxury cruise liner makes maiden voyage to WA

The Azamara Journey, a boutique 690-guest ship, has made its maiden call to Fremantle.

The luxury ship is also scheduled to call in to the regional ports of Geraldton, Bunbury, Albany and Esperance on its inaugural visit to Western Australia.

Azamara Journey’s visit to Fremantle is expected to inject about $250,000 into the local economy and $740,000 into the WA economy throughout the season.

The cruise ship docked in the port city this morning, allowing guests the opportunity to explore Fremantle and Perth over two days, before departing at 10pm tomorrow.

Azamara Club Cruises will also hold its signature ‘AzAmazing Evening’ event in Fremantle tonight where guests will be treated to local fare and Margaret River Wines, while enjoying entertainment from Australian music icons including didgeridoo player Mark Atkins and Steve Pigram of celebrated indigenous band, the Pigram Brothers.

When the ship docks in Albany there will be a special gun salute at the Princess Royal Fortress, as is the case for every visiting cruise ship.
