Fringe World opens in Perth

Fringe World, Western Australia’s biggest festival of its kind and the third largest fringe festival in the world, has been officially launched by Premier Mark McGowan.

The 2018 festival runs from January 26 to February 25 and is expected to attract hundreds of thousands of people across the four-week period.

The month-long event features more than 750 low-cost and free performances and cultural experiences happening in almost 130 venues across WA.

With the additional $1.87 million of State Government funding, through Lotterywest, the State Government’s support of Fringe World has been in excess of $6 million since 2011.

The additional grant support will see the delivery of Fringe World continue in 2019, with a further $350,000 contributed by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.
