Grant to increase Bremer Bay’s emergency bushfire water supply

Water Minister Dave Kelly has provided the Shire of Jerramungup with a $46,282 grant to increase the Point Henry Peninsula strategic emergency water supply in Bremer Bay.

The shire and the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) have worked together to identify the best location for the water supply to overcome issues of road access and limited water supplies in the area.

The grant provided by the McGowan Labor Government will significantly improve the water supply for fire suppression and increase the current emergency water supply by constructing a new bore and replacing the old 20 kilolitre tank with two 135 kilolitre tanks.

The Shire of Jerramungup is contributing an extra $21,616 to the project.

When completed, the project will secure a reliable emergency firefighting water source and complement the fire management strategies being developed in partnership between the shire and DFES.
