Premium citrus growing Wheatbelt jobs

Agriculture and Food Minister Alannah MacTiernan today officially opened Western Australia’s largest citrus packing facility in Bindoon.

The Moora Citrus Packers shed includes advanced packing technology co-funded through a State Government grant to deliver high-quality citrus fruits to premium export markets.

Fruit producers from across the region will able to use the facility to pack, cool, inspect, load and seal containers straight to port to allow access for export markets with strict biosecurity protocols.

Moora Citrus Packers is expected to generate 15 long-term jobs in Bindoon, as well as another 60 jobs in the service and supply chain.

WA has significantly increased its citrus exports from 500 tonnes in 2015 to 3,000 tonnes so far in 2017, and this is expected to double to 6,000 tonnes next year, with Moora Citrus Packers directly contributing to this increase.
