Charges laid over Aveley fire

Arson Squad Detectives yesterday (8 May 2018) charged three juveniles as a result of an investigation into a bush fire that occurred in Aveley on Saturday 5 May 2018.

It will be alleged he boys put dry grass into a shopping trolley and set it alight.

When the fire took hold they tipped the trolley over in an effort to extinguish the fire, but the flames ignited more scrub and was spread by strong winds. Approximately 25 hectares of land was burnt.

A 15 year old boy and two 14 year old boys, all from Ellenbrook have been charged with Breach of Duty.

They are due to appear in the Midland Children’s Court later this month.
