Premier test drives Collie’s newest tourism drawcard

Premier Mark McGowan has travelled to Collie to test out the upgraded track at Collie Motorplex – with the tourism drawcard attracting big crowds, benefiting local small businesses and creating jobs.

The State Government provided $314,000 to bring the facility up to Australian standards and create opportunities for major sporting events in the South-West, including national championships.

The latest upgrade follows the almost $3 million spent in 2017 to extend the track from 1.6 kilometres to 2.3 kilometres and upgrade spectator and competitor facilities.

The work has been completed in line with the highest national safety standards, making the Collie Motorplex a major sports tourism drawcard for Collie and the South-West.

Events at the Motorplex support local jobs and benefit the local economy by creating opportunities for a range of small businesses including hotels, restaurants, pubs and tourism operators.
