Synthetic wickets turfed out at White Knights Baldivis Cricket Club

Baldivis cricketers will soon be able to practice on turf training wickets, thanks to a $40,000 upgrade championed by Baldivis MLA Reece Whitby.

Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray today joined Mr Whitby at White Knights Baldivis Cricket Club to announce funding to replace existing synthetic training wickets with new turf pitches.

Funded through the WA Government’s Local Projects, Local Jobs initiative, the new wickets will be located at Baldivis Secondary College, allowing the club, school students and the wider community to access them.

The $40,000 contribution will enable the club to develop the new wickets and buy relevant maintenance equipment such as a mower – supporting local jobs and small businesses.

The WA Government’s Local Projects, Local Jobs fund is supporting more than 200 community sport and recreation projects across the State, creating jobs and building stronger and healthier communities.
