Man arrested after liquor store armed robbery

Regional Investigations Unit detectives have charged a 35 year old man as a result of their investigation into an armed robbery at a liquor store in Beldon on Friday, 12 January 2018.

It will be alleged around 11pm, the man armed with a firearm entered the store located on the corner of Gunter Grove and Marmion Avenue. He threatened staff with the weapon and demanded cash.

It is further alleged the man threatened customers that walked into the store during the robbery. The man fled with a sum of cash.

Inquiries by detectives and with the assistance of Tactical Response Group officer, a search warrant was executed at a home in Littorina Avenue in Heathridge on Monday 15 January 2018.

During the search, police apprehended the man and seized a sawn off rifle.

The man from Heathridge has been charged with:

  • Armed Robbery;
  • Aggravated Possession of Unlicensed Firearm;
  • Unlicensed Person Possess Ammunition;
  • Possess Prohibited Drug; and
  • Possess Drug Paraphernalia.

He is due to appear before the Joondalup Magistrates Court today, 16 January 2018.
