Aboriginal Affairs Minister Ben Wyatt has congratulated all native title holders who have had native title determinations made in 2017.
For the first time in Western Australian history, the number of native title determinations exceed the number of outstanding claimant applications. The Gingirana determination on December 7 brings the total number of native title determinations in Western Australia to 76, with 74 applications currently outstanding.
The 12 successful native title determinations for 2017 were:
- Gingirana;
- Yindjibarndi #1;
- Kulyakartu Part B AND Kulyakartu #2 Part B;
- A Mirning People;
- Wajarri Yamatji;
- Budina People;
- Yilka and Yilka #2 and Sullivan Family;
- Ngurra Kyanta and Ngurra Kyanta 2 Part B;
- Ngadju Part B;
- Yinhawangka People Part A and B;
- Tjiwarl and Tjiwarl #2; and
- Tarlka Matuwa Piarku (Aboriginal Corporation) RNTBC
