New Byford primary school construction to begin in 2018

The WA Government has committed $18.9 million to build a new primary school on Lawrence Way in Byford.

A key election commitment, construction will begin in 2018 with the school expected to be open to students in 2020.

Originally $15.6 million was set aside for the build, however, to accommodate long-term projected enrolments based on residential developments in the area, a further $3.3 million has been allocated.

The funding boost will enable an extra classroom block to be built and the school to accommodate 540 students rather than the traditional 430.

The WA Government has invested more than $465 million to build new schools and upgrade existing facilities across the State, creating jobs for Western Australians and ensuring students have access to modern education facilities.
