New app helps drivers safely transport dangerous goods

An innovative app will make it easier for drivers to access information on transporting dangerous goods in Western Australia.

Developed by the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety, the Dangerous Goods Road Transport Decoder app is easy-to-use and can be used offline when saved to a mobile’s home screen.

Once downloaded, users simply select the Class of dangerous goods, such as explosive or toxic gas, and the packaging type being transported.

The app then provides information about the transport safety requirements needed.

Drivers having a better understanding of the regulatory requirements will result in higher levels of safety on our roads when transporting dangerous goods.

The app is intended to be used in the preparation of transporting dangerous goods and not while driving.
