The first artist’s impressions of the new Inner City College (planning name) have been released today, providing insight into what the new school will eventually look like.
Inner City College will be built at Kitchener Park in Subiaco and will make use of its iconic location next to Subiaco Oval, which will be incorporated into the design of the school.
The community will have access to Subiaco Oval as a shared facility, with the WA Government choosing to retain the playing surface as public open space.
The school will be built across different levels spanning three and four stories and the design will contribute to the culture and character of Subiaco.
Students will enjoy modern specialist facilities equipped with innovative new technology, including a sports hall and gymnasium, lecture theatres and library as well as science, digital technology, food and textiles labs.
The local intake area has been set and will help ease enrolment pressure on existing inner suburban schools. Students from across the State will be able to apply for the Gifted and Talented academic program.
Recruitment for the foundation principal is now open with an appointment expected in April.
The principal will set the direction of the school, including developing the vision, ethos and values of the school; logo; uniform and the teaching and learning programs.
Construction is expected to start in mid-2018. The school will open to Year 7 students in 2020, expanding to cater for Year 7 to 12 students in 2025.
