Access and inclusion take centre stage at Disability Awareness Week

Strengthening awareness of the importance of inclusive and accessible communities is in the spotlight as part of this year’s Disability Awareness Week, which runs from December 3-9, 2017.

Interactive activities, exhibitions and entertainment will form a vast calendar of community events taking place across the State to mark the occasion.

Across the week, events include the:

  • Celebrate Us! event in Redcliffe;
  • Explaining Autism event in Wembley;
  • Swan Districts Football Club Community Breakfast in Bassendean; and
  • Disco in the Desert in Gascoyne Junction.

Starting with the United Nations-sanctioned International Day of People with Disability today, the rest of the week celebrates the achievements and contributions of people with disability and promotes the importance of communities that are inclusive and accessible for all Western Australians.

The WA Government is committed to supporting initiatives such as Disability Awareness Week which empower people with disability to achieve their goals.
