New chairperson appointed to Regional Development Trust

Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan has announced that Brendan Hammond will today take the helm at the Western Australian Regional Development Trust to help drive job-creation in regional WA.

The Regional Development Trust provides independent advice to the Regional Development Minister on the application and management of the Royalties for Regions program.

Mr Hammond’s considerable experience in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors will help to ensure Royalties for Regions funding is allocated to projects that create long-term jobs across regional WA.

Mr Hammond has senior leadership experience across a number of industries, including energy and the mining sector. He has delivered substantial revenue growth and profitability to underperforming organisations.

He was awarded the Governor’s Award for Regional Development at the Western Australian Citizen of the Year Awards in 2011.

Mr Hammond is also chairperson of the Pilbara Development Commission.

The appointment replaces outgoing chairperson Tim Shanahan.
