Man charged over road rage assault

Fremantle Detectives have charged a man as a result of their investigation into an assault that occurred on Tuesday, 10 April 2018 in O’Connor.

Around 4pm, a 73 year old man was driving his silver Toyota Landcruiser west along Leach Highway before turning into Stock Road in Willagee.

The Landcruiser overtook a white Mitsubishi Triton on Stock Road and then the Triton overtook the Landcruiser on the inside, hitting the left side mirror.

Both vehicles stopped at a red light at the intersection of Stock Road and South Street in O’Connor and it is alleged the driver of the Triton exited his vehicle and walked over to the Landcruiser where he cracked the windscreen and driver’s side window of the Landcruiser with a screwdriver and assaulted the 73 year old driver.

The driver of the Triton, a 43 year old man from Medina has been charged with:

  • Aggravated Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm;
  • Criminal Damage; and
  • Possess Article with Intent.

He is due to appear before the Fremantle Magistrates Court on 4 May 2018.

There were several people in vehicles at the intersection at the time of the incident and detectives would like to speak to anyone who assisted the victim or saw the altercation.
