Traditional Blessing of the Roads promotes safe driving over Easter

Road Safety Minister Michelle Roberts has called on Western Australian road users to work together towards a fatality-free Easter at today’s Blessing of the Roads ceremony in Sorrento.

The traditional Easter ceremony, conducted by the Salvation Army on behalf of the cities of Joondalup, Swan and Stirling, promotes safe driving over the Easter long weekend.

The four-day break provides the opportunity for travel around the State, and Mrs Roberts urged drivers to consider how their behaviour behind the wheel could affect their loved ones and other road users.

Double demerit points apply to speeding, mobile phone, drink and drug driving, red light and seatbelt offences from midnight tonight until midnight Monday, April 2.
