Water Police arrest armed robber in South Perth

Perth Detectives have charged a 35 year old man in relation to an armed robbery in South Perth yesterday, Monday 19 March 2018.

Around 5:10pm, the man entered South Piazza located on the South Perth Esplanade. It is alleged he was armed with a hatchet and replica firearm. He allegedly stole property from a store before entering another store where he attempted to steal money from the till. The man was challenged by staff and he fled on foot.

It is further alleged the man walked into another store in the Piazza and again attempted to steal money from the till. The man was confronted by the store owner and a customer who were able to detain him. Water Police officers who were in the area took the man into custody.

The man from Bentley has been charged with:

  • Armed Robbery;
  • Attempted Aggravated Armed Robbery; and
  • Attempted Armed Robbery.

He is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today, Tuesday 20 March 2018.
