Busselton to welcome top sailors for SuperFoiler Grand Prix

The State Government has signed a deal to fund the SuperFoiler Grand Prix, a world-class sailing event which is expected to attract some of the world’s best sailors to Busselton and Western Australia’s South-West.

Sailors include former world champions, America’s Cup winners and Olympic medallists.

SuperFoilers feature ‘foils’, or wing-shaped pieces of carbon fibre, under the hull, enabling the boats to lift out of the water, and travel at speeds of more than 80 kilometres per hour.

The SuperFoiler Grand Prix is an inaugural national race series that will involve six teams, comprising international and Australian crew, racing in five regattas staged in Western Australia, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Victoria.

The WA event will take place alongside the world famous Busselton Jetty on March 2-4, 2018.

The SuperFoiler Grand Prix is funded through Tourism Western Australia’s Regional Events Program.
