Nominations open for mining and resources Awards for Excellence

The Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety is calling for nominations for its annual Awards for Excellence.

Resources companies that have engaged collaboratively with communities, excelled in safety and health, or have demonstrated innovation, for the environment or workplace, are encouraged to apply.

Last year, the Golden Gecko Award for environmental excellence was presented to Hanson Construction Materials, and Kings Park and Botanic Gardens for their restoration guide at Banksia Woodlands.

Iluka Resources won the Systems and People category for their partnership with Dardanup farmers, Peter and Judy Milton, and their steer named Winston.

Their partnership was recognised as an innovative approach to raising awareness on mental health issues within the workforce, resources industry and wider community.

Nominations for this year’s awards close at 5pm on Monday April 23, 2018.

The winners will be announced on Thursday October 25, 2018.
