Two-year funding agreement signed for Ord Valley Muster

The East Kimberley’s premier cultural celebration, the Ord Valley Muster, has secured State Government funding for another two years through Tourism WA’s Regional Events Program.

Set in Kununurra, the Ord Valley Muster is a 10-day event that celebrates and showcases the surrounding region through food, art, music, tours, comedy and Aboriginal culture.

More than 30 events and activities make up the Oord Valley Muster program, attracting about 15,000 attendees over the 10 days.

The muster’s major drawcard is the Kimberley Moon Experience, which is held on the last weekend of the festival and in past years has included headline acts such as Jimmy Barnes, Paul Kelly, Guy Sebastian and Eskimo Joe.

The Kimberley Moon Experience alone attracts about 3,500 guests including celebrities, business leaders and the local community.

In 2015, the event was awarded the Best Regional Event in Australia at the 2015 Australian Event Awards, as well as the Best Festival and Event at the 2014, 2015 and 2016 Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards. In 2017, the Ord Valley Muster was inducted into the WA Tourism Hall of Fame.
