The State Government has welcomed lease agreements with Kimberley Agricultural Investment Pty Ltd (KAI) which will enable the next phase of agricultural expansion in the Ord to commence.
The agreements, signed this week, cover 7,400 hectares of land at Goomig Farmlands, located 25 kilometres north of Kununurra, as part of the Ord Stage 2 project.
The Goomig Development Lease and the Goomig Common Area Lease and Infrastructure Management Agreement supports the transition of pastoral leases into irrigated farmland to grow crops.
The lease agreement will also support long-term development opportunities in the Ord, including broad acre farming and value-added industries such as grain grading and processing.
