Car emissions put to the test with CleanRun

Perth motorists driving through St James on November 14 and 15, 2017 will have an opportunity to test their vehicle emissions as part of the State Government’s CleanRun program.

A monitoring device will be present at Hill View Terrace in St James from 7am to 2pm on both days, enabling drivers to get their vehicle emissions tested and rated via a Remote Sensing Device (RSD).

The RSD measures carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, nitric oxide and smoke from cars as they pass, providing instant feedback to drivers via a smart sign displaying a simple message – ‘Good’, ‘Fair’ or ‘Poor’.

Up to 18,000 cars are set to be tested through CleanRun during November and December, 2017.

The program will also run from 7am to 2pm at Weaponess Road, Wembley Downs on November 21-22; Spearwood Avenue, Spearwood on November 28-29; Illawarra Crescent South, Ballajura on December 5-6; Lesmurdie Road, Lesmurdie on December 12-13; and Prindiville Drive, Wangara on December 19-20.

Results of the monitoring will be used to inform the development of programs aimed at reducing vehicle emissions in Western Australia.  For more information, click here.
