Hula dancing, petanque, canoeing and Tai chi are some of the activities older Western Australians can try at this year’s Have a Go Day, tomorrow at Burswood Park.
Have a Go Day is an annual event organised by the Seniors Recreation Council of WA, which offers free activities and information for seniors.
The event, a highlight of Seniors Week, encourages active, healthy lifestyles and offers opportunities to try new activities. This is the 25th year the event has been held at Burswood Park.
Visitors to the event, which last year attracted more than 15,000 people, can pick up information from about 200 exhibitors, including clubs, services, sports and recreation organisations, and health care providers.
The McGowan Government provided the Seniors Recreation Council with $75,965 this financial year to facilitate their Healthy Ageing Through Activity program.
WA Seniors Week 2017 runs until November 5. For more information about Seniors Week, visit http://www.communities.wa.gov.au. For more about Have a Go Day, visit http://www.srcwa.asn.au
