Agriculture and Food Minister Alannah MacTiernan has welcomed the Potato Growers Association of Western Australia’s (PGAWA) responsible recommendation to its members to accept their share of legal trust funds.
In August 2017, the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development wrote to 74 WA potato growers offering to return a share of Potato Marketing Corporation funds recovered from a legal trust after actions against the Galati companies were settled.
More than $650,000 has been offered to growers – $484,316 from the legal trust fund along with the $200,000 in costs paid by Galati Nominees Pty Ltd.
This week the PGAWA has advised its members to sign a legal deed with the State Government to receive their share of the funds.
