Improved access to vital health information to benefit patients

Western Australians will benefit from improvements to the accessibility and transparency of key health information made as a result of a McGowan Government election commitment.

The changes will ensure information including emergency department wait times, outpatient specialist waiting lists and elective surgery waitlist times are prominent, and easy to navigate.

The information, to be located on the Department of Health’s website, will be implemented in stages, with stage one available in early 2018, including:

  • An ‘our performance’ webpage that will improve access to existing publicly available performance reports;
  • Presentation of the elective surgery waitlist reports on an easily navigable, and accessible webpage; and
  • Replacement of lengthy reports with improved web-based format reporting and more current data.

Subsequent stages of this project will see the implementation of enhanced reporting including emergency department access, and wait times for outpatient appointments.
