Better engagement makes for healthier, happier employees

Health Minister Roger Cook will write to 44,000 health staff to launch a new dedicated employee engagement process.

In his pledge, the Minister will outline his new engagement plan and invite health employees to take part in two surveys about the Sustainable Health Review Interim Report and Recommendations, and on staff engagement and morale.

An experienced, credible and independent company will be commissioned to conduct an online employee engagement survey across all health service providers in 2018, and for several years following.

Starting next month, the State Government will hold staff forums at hospitals including Fiona Stanley, Royal Perth, Sir Charles Gairdner and Rockingham General. Invitations will also be sent to staff from smaller hospitals and country health staff will be engaged through online forums.

The new employee engagement process will enable staff to better communicate issues in their workplaces and ensure their health and wellbeing is looked after.

Following the significant change to public health services in recent years, the State Government continues to partner with health service providers to seek innovative ways to deliver efficient, safe and high-quality health care.
