Centre to make the Great Southern WA’s adventure capital

Adventure opportunities in the Great Southern will be taken to a new level with today’s launch of the Great Southern Centre for Outdoor Recreation Excellence (GSCORE).

Officially launched at Albany’s Camp Quaranup by Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan, GSCORE aims to help make the region the adventure capital of Australia by promoting growth in the outdoor recreation industry.

GSCORE aims to create a vibrant and sustainable outdoor recreation sector in the Great Southern through innovative training, business support and strategic planning services.

GSCORE will position the Great Southern as a hub for outdoor education and active leadership, driving education visitation and job creation in the training sector, including the growth and expansion of the tertiary sector and creative partnerships with the commercial sector. The centre should also attract international students to the region.

GSCORE is a joint initiative of the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries; the Great Southern Development Commission; and the Albany Chamber of Commerce and Industry. For more information, visit http://www.gscore.com.au
