State Government approves retail trading trial

The State Government has approved the City of Greater Geraldton’s application for a 12-month trial of Perth metropolitan retail trading hours.

General retailers will now be able to trade from 8am to 9pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm on Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sunday and public holidays – except Christmas Day, Good Friday and Anzac Day.

After the trial, the City of Greater Geraldton is required to provide the Minister for Commerce and Industrial Relations with a comprehensive review of the trial for further consideration.

The review will identify the impact of the trial on small businesses, employment, tourism, and the local community.
