Two important judicial appointments announced

The State Government has appointed Judge David Parry as Deputy President of the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT) and Belinda Lonsdale as a judge of the District Court of Western Australia.

Judge Parry was one of the inaugural senior members of the SAT and served a term as Deputy President between 2011 and 2016.

He has been a judge of the District Court of Western Australia since 2011.

Judge Parry has expertise and experience in the field of planning in which he has been a leader for the field in New South Wales and Western Australia for many years.  His return to the SAT, having been recently engaged in the District Court’s civil and criminal jurisdiction, will greatly enhance the planning skills in the Tribunal.

The vacancy left on the District Court will be filled by Ms Lonsdale, who is a barrister specialising in criminal law.

Ms Lonsdale will bring almost 25 years’ legal experience to the District Court. She has extensive experience in criminal law and has appeared regularly as counsel in the Supreme Court, District Court and the Magistrates Court.
