Western Australia will host delegates from a number of African countries this week as part of the inaugural Australia Africa Week – a celebration of the economic and cultural ties between the two continents.
Centred around the well-established Africa Down Under (Mining) Conference, Africa Week 2017 will bring together WA’s diverse African communities in a series of workshops and activities that showcase their contributions to this State both locally and on the international stage.
The McGowan Government, through the Office of Multicultural Interests, is supporting key elements of this program, including:
- The Woman in Leadership Network: Africa Trade and Investment Forum, which will focus on gender diversity, tourism, agribusiness and cottage industries; and
- The Africa Down Under Cup, a football competition, convened by Football West, between local African communities.
Africa Week runs until Friday, September 8 and details of events are available at http://www.omi.wa.gov.au
