WA’s top educators and schools in line for prestigious awards

The State’s most outstanding public school staff have been revealed, with 44 finalists in the 10th annual WA Education Awards.

This year – from a record number of nominations – finalists have been selected from across the State from Broome to Kalgoorlie and down to Esperance.

Some schools have more than one reason to celebrate today. Broome Senior High School is a finalist for the WA Premier’s Excellence in Aboriginal Education Award and the school’s principal Saeed Amin is also in line for the WA Secondary Principal of the Year. Teacher Hayden Brown is also a finalist for the WA Premier’s Secondary Teacher of the Year.

At West Beechboro Primary School, teacher Anthony Horn is a finalist for the WA Premier’s Primary Teacher of the Year, and Kelly Wylie is a finalist for the WA Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer of the Year.

Carine Senior High School principal Damian Shuttleworth has been named a finalist in the WA Secondary Principal of the Year category and the school is one of four vying for WA Secondary School of the Year.
