Lotterywest grant towards new Scarborough playground

On behalf of the Premier, Minister Assisting the Minister for State Development, Jobs and Trade Alannah MacTiernan today presented a $1.47 million Lotterywest grant to the City of Stirling to help fund a new playground at the Scarborough Beach foreshore.

The outdoor facility – which forms part of the larger Scarborough Beach redevelopment – will be accessible for children of all ages and abilities, creating a welcoming environment within the foreshore.

The inspiration for the new space is connected to the Noongar culture and the beach environment, and incorporates climbing structures, swings, slides and other unique play components.

MacTiernan said “The playground will contribute towards establishing Scarborough Beach as a safe, attractive and contemporary beach for the community and its visitors.

“Quality playgrounds are great activators of areas and create opportunities for everyone in the community to enjoy our public spaces.

“The State Government, through Lotterywest, is pleased to have contributed to this important community development.”
