Major Crash Investigators have charged a man in relation to a hit and run crash in Cooloongup yesterday afternoon, Friday 25 August 2017.
About 1:15pm a white Holden Statesman and a Honda motorcycle were traveling south on Read Street. The two vehicles collided with each other near the intersection of Goongarrie Drive.
The 36 year old male rider of the motorcycle received serious injuries in the crash and was taken to Royal Perth Hospital by St John Ambulance.
It will be alleged the driver of the Holden Statesman failed to stop at the scene.
The Holden Statesman was stopped by police near the intersection of Read Street and Patterson Road, Rockingham a short time later. Four occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody, with the passengers later released.
The alleged driver of the Holden Statesman, a 34 year old man from Belmont, has been charged with:
- Dangerous Driving Occasioning Grievous Bodily Harm
- No Authority to Drive
- Driver Fail to Ensure Assistance After Traffic Incident (Bodily Harm)
- Driver Fail to Report Incident Occasioning Death or Grievous Bodily Harm
He was refused bail and is due to appear in the Perth Magistrate’s Court today, Saturday 26 August 2017.
