An Albany-based public place designer specialising in landscapes, urban design, trails and interpretation has been appointed to the Heritage Council of Western Australia, for a three-year term which commenced on July 1, 2017.

With more than 20 years’ experience across the public and private sectors, Ms Sally Malone has been involved in various projects including large metropolitan public place construction and smaller designs for regional shires.

Ms Malone has also served on various boards including the Southern Ports and Albany Port Authorities, Regional Development Australia Great Southern and the Committee for Albany.

Heritage engineer Ian Maitland OAM and historian Lucy Hair have also been appointed to the Heritage Council’s Register and Development committees.

Heritage Minister David Templeman said “Ms Malone’s understanding of the planning process, design and sustainable community, and regional development will ensure she makes a valuable contribution to the Heritage Council.”
