Mountain bikes roll into Albany for Southern MTB 2017

Mountain bike riders and spectators will enjoy the best action on two wheels as the Southern MTB 2017 kicks off in and around picturesque Albany today.

Starting as the Albany Urban Downhill in 2013, the Southern MTB 2017 festival now features five events and caters for riders of all ages and abilities.

The State Government contributed $10,000 to WestCycle in support of the event through the Country Sport Enrichment Scheme, which supports the delivery of international, national or State events to boost sporting opportunities in the regions.

The Southern MTB 2017 offers participants the choice of two race distances in the Southern Peaks event, the Urban Downhill course that will include a new junior course and one for younger riders, the Kids Urban Event.

The Jump Comp takes place on Saturday night in the centre of the Albany Town Square Event Village and will showcase a slopestyle multi-feature course, which includes launching off sea containers and other spectacular stunts.

The festival runs from Friday through to Sunday. If you are interested in volunteering at the festival, go to http://www.southernmtb.com.au/volunteer
