WA’s Meth Border Force tackles drug scourge

The WA Police Force, together with law enforcement partner agencies, have stopped an estimated $50 million of methamphetamine hitting our streets.

Police MinisterMichelle Roberts joined Commissioner of Police Chris Dawson at Police headquarters today to outline details of several police operations, which this week led to the seizure of 51.5 kilograms of methamphetamine.

On Monday (March 12), officers attached to WA’s Meth Border Force seized 20 kilograms of methamphetamine after detecting the consignment in the suitcase of a 32-year-old Sydney man.

The drugs were detected using the new Meth X-Ray Truck.

Also on Monday, 31 kilograms of methamphetamine was seized at Dampier Port in the Pilbara during a joint operation with our Federal counterparts.

Two men and a woman, all Bulgarian nationals, have been charged with Commonwealth drug importation offences.

The Meth Border Force is a key plank of a co-ordinated State Government plan, with 100 extra police officers and 20 specialist staff, boosting efforts to intercept the drug before it hits our streets.
