Local festival celebrates global cultures

Visitors to Heron Park Estate in Harrisdale will get the chance to experience turban-tying, sari-styling and much more, as part of Harmony Festival 2018.

Organised by a dedicated committee of volunteers from eight local community and cultural groups, the popular festival is now celebrating its fourth year and is likely to be the biggest and best yet.

The multicultural celebration will feature music, dance and ethnic food stalls, as well as Pakiwaitara, a special Maori cultural experience made up of Ta Moko (photo exhibition of tattoos), Haka (challenge), Waiata (song), Whakairo (carving) and Kai (cuisine).

The Harrisdale festivities are taking place on Sunday, May 20 from 11am until 4pm at Jim and Alma Baker Park.
