Increased flight capacity from Singapore a boost for tourism

Singapore Airlines’ newest Boeing 787-10 aircraft has arrived in Perth – its first Australian destination.

Singapore Airlines is the first to fly the newest Dreamliner, which will allow for a capacity increase of 38,000 seats on the Perth to Singapore route.

The 787-10 features a longer fuselage than other models in the 787 series, which allows it to carry about 40 more passengers or a total of 330 seats in a standard two-class configuration. With the additional capacity, the 787-10 provides airlines the lowest operating cost per seat of any widebody airplane in service today.

Singapore is currently the third largest international tourism market for Western Australia by visitor numbers, and fourth largest by visitor spend, with 102,000 Singaporeans visiting WA in 2017, spending $220 million.

Singapore is also WA’s third largest market by leisure visitor numbers and spend, with visitors attracted to WA’s nature and wildlife, coastal, and food and wine experiences.

Perth is the second destination in the world, after Osaka, to welcome the arrival of the newest Dreamliner.
