Kim Beazley sworn in as Western Australia’s 33rd Governor

The Honourable Kim Beazley AC has officially been sworn in as the 33rd Governor of Western Australia, at a ceremony hosted in the Government House ballroom.

Governor Beazley has spent almost three decades in Federal Parliament as the Member for Swan and later Brand, and has served as Deputy Prime Minister, Special Minister of State and Minister for Defence.

After retiring from politics, Mr Beazley was appointed Winthrop Professor at The University of Western Australia and held several academic and diplomat roles including as Chancellor of the Australian National University and Australian Ambassador to the United States of America.

He was also awarded the Companion of the Order of Australia for his services to the Australian Parliament, to the community and as an advocate for indigenous people.

Born in Perth, Governor Beazley has a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from The University of Western Australia. He has also completed a Masters of Philosophy at Oxford University and was awarded an honorary doctorate from The University of Notre Dame WA and Murdoch University.

Mr Beazley is married to Susie Annus, a former television producer, and has three daughters – Jessica, Hannah and Rachel.
