Man, 28, charged with string of offences

Perth Detectives have charged a 28 year old man as a result of their investigation into several incidents that occurred in Perth on Monday, 23 April 2018.

Around 7:50pm, the man entered a car park located on Moore Street in Perth and it is alleged he attempted to start a Honda motorcycle that was not his, causing damage to the ignition switch. He allegedly stole sunglasses from another motorcycle in the carpark before walking away.

Around 8pm, it is alleged the man walked across Moore Street to a parked Hyundai Getz and attempted to open the driver’s door. The driver had the doors locked and it is alleged the man hit the driver’s side window with his hand several times.

The man continued walking along Moore Street and it is alleged he opened the driver’s door of a Volkswagen Polo that was stopped at the boom gates. It is further alleged he pulled the female driver (in her 60s) from the vehicle by her hair, before driving away in her vehicle.

Around 10:35pm, the man was located hiding in the rear yard of a home on Earles Place in Balga by Police Dog Jack.

The 28 year old man from Parmelia has been charged with:

  • Two counts of Breach of VRO;
  • One count of Stealing;
  • One count of Steal Motor Vehicle;
  • One count of Attempted to Steal Motor Vehicle;
  • One count of Aggravated Robbery; and
  • One count of Trespass.

He is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today, 24 April 2018.
