Growing suburbs to benefit from Willetton Basketball Association upgrades

Major upgrades to the Willetton Basketball Association will double the number of courts at the facility and increase playing capacity by 60 per cent.

The Willetton Basketball Association’s indoor courts will double from four to eight, capacity will increase to 5,500 – and new change rooms, storage rooms, toilets, administration and social areas will complete the refurbishment.

An important aspect of the upgrades is to allow for co-sharing of courts and facilities by local badminton and netball players.

The State Government contributed $1.5 million to the project through the Community Sport and Recreation Facilities Fund, while the Federal Government provided $5.5 million, the City of Canning provided $2.2 million and the Willetton Basketball Association provided $800,000.

The Willetton Basketball Association is a key community sporting facility servicing the southern and eastern suburbs.
