Equipment and uniform funding help Pilbara sport clubs kick goals

30 sporting clubs across the Pilbara will receive more than $50,000 to help purchase new equipment and uniforms.

From traditional sports such as cricket, soccer and swimming, to modern pursuits of roller derby and pony club, the grants reach all corners of the Pilbara, supporting clubs of all shapes and sizes.

The 30 clubs will share in more than $50,000 with funding ranging from $840 to $5,500.

The Pilbara Regional Football Development Committee received $5,500 to support the establishment of the Pilbara Nightfields Project in Nullagine, Marble Bar and Roebourne.

The Nightfields Project will deliver after-hours football activities for youth, in partnership with WA Police, Youth Justice, Aboriginal corporations and youth services.

Other grants include $2,000 for the Hedland BMX Club to purchase new portable shades, $2,000 for the Shire of East Pilbara to purchase equipment for the Newman Youth Centre, and $2,000 for the Nickol Junior Soccer Club to assist in the purchase of uniforms.

The funding is part of the Local Projects, Local Jobs program, which supports grassroots sporting and community organisations.
