Micro lots add to affordable housing range in Ellenbrook

Perth’s north-eastern suburb of Ellenbrook continues to build its reputation for innovative affordable housing options, with Housing Minister Peter Tinley formally opening two micro lot display homes today.

The Minister visited Fruin Loop in the award-winning suburb to launch the new homes – the first dwellings in a creative trial of 11 micro lot homes on green-title sites all less than 100 square metres.

The micro lot project, a collaboration between the State Government, Ellenbrook and developers Now Living, aims to challenge traditional concepts of the family home.

The Government owns nine lots in the first stage of the project, with houses to be constructed and sold through Keystart’s shared equity program. The first stage will offer 11 new two-storey homes, including the two display homes.

Designs include two and three-bedroom homes for a range of residents, including younger people wanting to buy their first home close to amenities and downsizers hoping to stay in the area.

Ellenbrook’s master planned design includes eight unique villages that will eventually form a 30,000-strong integrated community connected by METRONET to the greater Perth metropolitan region.

Ellenbrook is an incorporated partnership between the Department of Communities and Morella Pty Ltd, and is project managed by LWP Property Group (LWP). With more than 40 awards, it is Australia’s most awarded urban development project and in 2015 was recognised internationally as the world’s best master planned community.
