Bickley Camp Open Day to provide outdoor adventures for families

Families and kids of all ages have a chance to enjoy the magic of the outdoors at the Bickley Outdoor Recreation Camp Community Open Day this weekend.

On Saturday (April 7), the recreation camp will open its gates to the public to experience its unique bushland and enjoy a day of outdoor adventure.

Activities on the day include canoeing, cubby building, reptile education, climbing, arts and crafts, and live music.

The 73-year-old camp has hosted more than 500,000 campers and visitors in its lifetime – first opening in 1945 to provide more healthy recreation options for Western Australians.

The camp is one of five owned and run by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries. It can host up to 70 people in dorms, has tent camping for 50, and a day use area for up to 100 people.

The open day runs from 10am to 4pm. For more information, visit http://www.dsr.wa.gov.au
