Awards honour inspirational young Western Australians

A total of 32 young people who have overcome significant obstacles to strive towards an independent and fulfilling future have been recognised at the Perth Airport Achiever Awards today.

The Perth Airport Achiever Awards, hosted by the Department of Communities, are the only known Australian award program of their kind that financially rewards young people who are in care or who have left care, so they can pursue further education or training goals.

The presentation event at The University of Notre Dame Australia – Fremantle campus, saw each young person awarded up to $4,000 in prize money to lessen the financial burden and enable them to focus on the more important aspect of learning.

The Achiever Awards are supported by Perth Airport, Edith Cowan University, The University of Notre Dame Australia – Fremantle campus, Curtin University, the Foster Care Association of Western Australia (Inc), Murdoch University, RTRfm 92.1, Scitech, and the Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Foundation.
