WA jobs focus on show at Community Cabinet

Premier Mark McGowan was quickly put to work by Belmont City College students during his visit to the school’s Trade Training Centre to meet some young Western Australians preparing for their future careers.

Students at the Trade Training Centre have been mastering their culinary, gardening and a whole host of other skills and trades that pique their interest, in preparation for the workforce.

The visit was part of the State Government’s first Community Cabinet meeting for the year, where the Premier and Cabinet Ministers met with local residents and organisations to discuss local issues and open community dialogue.

A series of Community Cabinet meetings are held throughout the year. Each visit comprises a formal Cabinet meeting, a Town Hall, and additional formal and informal community consultations affecting the area or the wider State.

This Community Cabinet also marks the one-year anniversary of the McGowan Government’s 2017 election win.

Local job creating industries such as tourism, racing and urban planning have been central to the Belmont and Victoria Park Community Cabinet meetings, however, the Premier said diversifying the economy and creating WA jobs was something the whole State could play a part in.
