Public Sector Commissioner set to retire after 45-year contribution

Public Sector Commissioner Mal Wauchope AO today announced his retirement following an impressive 45 years of service to the Western Australian public sector.

The Commissioner will retire in early July 2018.

Mr Wauchope has dedicated his career to shaping the WA public sector through his work in Treasury, the Department of the Premier and Cabinet and Public Sector Commission.

Key State Government reforms Mr Wauchope has led includes the machinery of government changes, introduced last year, to amalgamate State Government departments from 41 to 25. The changes are aimed at boosting collaboration on whole of government objectives and delivering services through more efficient means.

Mr Wauchope was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2017.

He was appointed as Public Sector Commissioner in 2008 and was reappointed to the role in 2015.
