Construction begins at Albany’s Centennial Park

Construction has commenced on the Centennial Park Sporting and Event Precinct – a development designed to grow membership in local sports clubs and attract major sporting events to Albany.

The McGowan Government has fulfilled another election commitment, providing a further $6.922 million for the Centennial Park Sporting and Event Precinct development to grow membership in local sports clubs and attract major sporting events to Albany.

This funding commitment is critical to delivering the overall vision developed by the City of Albany for Centennial Park.

The funding will be used to complete the AFL junior node, enhance the youth precinct, and improve lighting, draining and the playing fields.

An agreement has been signed between the State Government and the City of Albany, releasing $3 million to commence works.

The project, which is expected to be completed by October 2019, will enable more Albany families to get involved in grassroots sporting clubs and being active, and will create opportunities to host State and national events in regional Western Australia.

The project will also provide valuable investment in the community with the construction and business from the subsequent major events it will attract, creating local jobs in Albany.
