Films to highlight the positives of growing older

Short films that change the way we think about ageing are the focus of the Life in Pictures competition as part of the 2018 Revelation Perth International Film Festival.

Filmmakers have until May 18, 2018 to submit films, which will then be screened on July 9, as part of the Revelation International Film Festival.

There are three categories for entries with a prize pool of $20,000, which will include opportunities to attend film industry events, short courses and training.

As part of the competition, free community workshops will be run to support entrants to develop and submit their films.

The inaugural Life in Pictures competition was held in 2017. Winners included Ruth Kendall who was honoured for ‘Janet’s New Skills’, which followed a woman’s journey to gain confidence from learning woodwork.

The competition has again been endorsed by the International Federation on Ageing, which has publically recognised the initiative as an excellent program that encourages a community conversation about ageing.

2016 WA Senior of the Year, actor Jenny Davis is Ambassador for the competition, which is being held in collaboration with the State Government, the Revelation International Film Festival and Screenwest.
